Make sure that the achievements that you do reference have substance and context – ‘meat on the bone’ is required. Provide more comprehensive evidence of your actual achievements, successes and / or job competencies to suggest to the reader that you are good at what you do.Don't “hit people between the eyes” with your experience before you’ve built a strong business case to justify why recruiters and hiring managers should seriously consider you.Steer clear of generic text in the introduction and make it commercially sharp. The critical first page should differentiate you from your peer group.Provide a compelling reason as to why you should be considered in preference to the other candidates by giving a greater insight into how you could make a positive contribution. Provide a clear statement of the actual value that you'd bring to a potential client or employer.At around 550 words, I'm 100 words over Rita's recommendation, but I've taken The CV & Interview Advisors at their work and added "more meat to the bones".Īlong with Rita's tips, which you can find on Savran's website, the additional advice was to: Rita kindly reviewed my attempt and offered a final piece of tweaking advice, which was to show some evidence of being a team player.
